MT5 to MT4 Cloud Trade Copier:
Route Planning and Netting Checks
An MT5-to-MT4 cloud trade copier route uses an MT5 account as the source and an MT4 account as the follower. Before activating a particular broker pair, confirm its connector instructions, allowed actions, source account mode and destination contract specifications. A platform-support list alone does not establish how that exact route will behave.
Publisher disclosure: Trade Copier publishes this guide about its live product. The owner confirms support for MT4, MT5, cTrader, NinjaTrader 8, DXTrade, TradeLocker, MatchTrader and VertexFX. This article is a planning worksheet, not an authenticated connection recipe or a completed broker-execution test. The public documentation and MetaQuotes sources were reviewed on October 2, 2026.
Start with the direction and the source account mode
Record MT5 source → MT4 follower, each broker/server and an account alias. Do not use a successful test in the reverse direction as proof. MetaQuotes' MT5 trading principles distinguish orders, deals and positions. On a netting account, opposing deals can reduce, close or reverse the symbol's existing position; hedging accounts can retain separate positions. An MT5 deal therefore cannot simply be treated as a new, independent MT4 position in every case.
Choose the intended scope before testing: the whole source position for a symbol, or specifically attributable strategy activity. If other strategies or manual trades share an MT5 net position, document how the connector attributes their actions. Record an unresolved attribution question instead of guessing which MT4 ticket should change.
A hypothetical netting-to-ticket exposure ledger
The following numbers are fictional contract specifications and fully filled actions, not broker data or measured TradeCopier results. Assume an MT5 netting source whose contract is 100,000 base units per lot, an MT4 follower contract of 10,000 units per lot, and a confirmed policy targeting equal base-unit exposure. This is a unit-conversion exercise, not a recommended risk allocation or an available sizing-setting claim.
| Source action | MT5 net result | Intended follower result | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buy 0.20 source lot | 20,000 units long | 2.00 follower lots long | Does the destination quantity fit its minimum, maximum and step? |
| Sell 0.05 source lot | 15,000 units long | 1.50 follower lots long | Which existing destination ticket is reduced? |
| Sell 0.20 source lot | 5,000 units short | 0.50 follower lot short, with the previous long closed | How are the close and new opposite exposure reconciled? |
The first conversion is 0.20 × 100,000 ÷ 10,000 = 2.00 follower lots. Copying the number 0.20 unchanged would instead produce only 2,000 follower units. For the final row, retaining the old long while opening a new short would leave a different gross position structure, even if a net-exposure calculation happened to match. Check actual tickets, quantities and protection values. Leave the route unverified until those results are observed.
Use broker specifications, not a similar symbol name
For each proposed pair, retain the exact source and destination symbol, contract size, permitted volume range/step and applicable trade restrictions. MetaQuotes documents these fields in its MQL5 symbol properties and MQL4 symbol properties. A suffix mapping does not prove that the contracts or permitted quantities are equivalent. If conversion yields an invalid volume, decide the acceptable rounding or rejection policy before using that route.
Record each action separately before live use
- Obtain current MT5-source/MT4-follower connection instructions for your broker pair. Ask what hosted connector, terminal or other runtime must remain available. General cloud hosting does not settle that requirement.
- Confirm the precise actions to be tested: market open, protection change, partial close, full close, reversal and any intended pending-order lifecycle. Mark each as supported, unsupported, untested or unavailable; one successful opening does not validate the rest.
- Use an authorized demo/test route and record source identifiers, pre-action account state, intended destination quantity/action, copier event, broker response and final destination state. Do not publish passwords or account secrets.
- Reconcile broker orders and fills with positions and stop-loss/take-profit values. For timeouts or interrupted connections, inspect the existing destination outcome before retrying; do not assume an unresolved request failed or was never executed.
The reviewed app connection documentation includes an MT5 flow, while the support team can confirm current MT4 connector instructions. Neither is a completed test of your chosen pair. Use the general getting-started checklist to organize account details; it is not a broker-specific MT4 activation recipe. TradeCopier has a permanent Free plan with account limits; consult current pricing for entitlements before planning additional accounts.
What this review establishes
It establishes a source-specific checklist and a transparent arithmetic example. It does not establish identical fills, instant copying, uninterrupted uptime or operation with every local terminal offline. The owner's reported 10–15 ms routing figure needs a completed, dated measurement dataset and results under a documented methodology before independent verification; routing is separate from broker execution time. Start with current instructions at tradecopier.org, then keep a dated record of the exact route and actions you actually verified.
Quick answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about this topic.
Does TradeCopier support MT5 and MT4?
The owner confirms both platforms within TradeCopier’s eight-platform catalog. Confirm the current MT5-source/MT4-follower broker pair, connector instructions, account mode and supported actions before activation; this article is not a completed connection test.
Why does MT5 netting matter when copying to MT4?
An opposite MT5 deal can reduce, close or reverse a net position. Confirm how that source state change maps to existing MT4 tickets so it is not mistaken for an unrelated new position.
Should MT5 and MT4 follower lot numbers always match?
No. Compare contract size and destination volume limits/steps. In the fictional example, 0.20 source lot with a 100,000-unit contract represents the same base-unit quantity as 2.00 follower lots with a 10,000-unit contract. It is not a recommended risk setting or a product test.
Can I close my local terminal and assume this route keeps copying?
Obtain the current runtime requirements for the exact MT5-source/MT4-follower route. Cloud hosting alone does not establish that every local terminal or connector can be offline, and this review did not test that behavior.
Does this guide prove instant execution or uninterrupted uptime?
No. It contains no measured execution or uptime study. Independently verifying the owner’s reported 10–15 ms routing statement requires a completed, dated dataset and results under a documented methodology. Routing and broker execution are separate measurements.
Is the Free plan a seven-day trial?
No. TradeCopier offers a permanent Free plan with account limits. Check current pricing for the number of accounts, groups and paid-plan entitlements applicable to your route.
